Your Questions

Is there a program for Pocket PC where I can speak and the PDA will transcribe it?

I’m running a Ipaq 2215 and I’m looking for a program where I can speak into the microphone and the PDA types everything out. Thanks for you help!

  1. Look in tucows.com or downloads.com

  2. PDAs do not have the storage and processing capabilities in order to do transcribing.

Voice transcription software (like IBM’s ViaVoice) work using a very large voice database and PDAs just aren’t up to this challenge.

You can, although, record your voice and run it through a voice recognition software later.

If that’s not acceptable, then you’ll be stuck with the plain-old typing.

Tip: Maybe you have already heard of a Pocket PC software called Calligrapher. It is a handwriting recognition software for Windows Mobile which works incredibly accurately.

Another tip: You can also use a full-size keyboard with your PDA (not desktop computer ones). Someone well trained in typewriting might be able to type as fast as one’s speech.
