The new Verizon BlackBerry Storm cell phone is the first BlackBerry phone with a touch-screen. This hot smartphone is sure to be on top of everyone’s Christmas list this year. Here are the answers to nine of your most frequently asked questions about the Verizon BlackBerry Storm.

1. When Is The BlackBerry Storm 9530 Release Date?

The release of BlackBerry Storm is scheduled for Friday, November 21st.

2. How Much Is Verizon Selling The BlackBerry Storm For?

The estimated price of the BlackBerry Storm is $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, through Verizon Wireless. Verizon customers must sign a new two year agreement plan to get the rebate.

The Verizon BlackBerry Storm will be available in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online at Verizon Wireless dot com. The BlackBerry Storm will also be available at Best Buy. However, Best Buy will not begin to sell the BlackBerry Storm until Sunday, November 23rd. If you are willing to wait the two extra days, Best Buy is planning to give BlackBerry Storm buyers a free Plantronic 360 BT headset! However, the phone must be a new activation and not just a simple upgrade. Unfortunately, at this time, the phone is backordered at Best Buy.

4. Where Can I Find A Verzion BlackBerry Storm User Guide?

The Verizon BlackBerry Storm has an innovative, interactive online user guide that includes fully illustrative step-by-step usage instructions! You can find the BlackBerry Storm user guide at the BlackBerry website at demos.blackberry dot com.

What’s the big deal behind the Apple iPhone? It’s expensive. It’s revolutionary. But are its features worth the money?

With all the popularity, you can assume everyone’s at least heard about it. What does the Apple iPhone feature and what can it do?

#1: Multi-Touch Technology

The most outstanding feature is the iPhone’s radical multi-touch screen. The MT screen allows any mechanical button to appear on this high tech toy. It simply allows you to use your fingers to operate it. This is contrary to any other phone today, which either have mechanical keyboards or a stylus.

By tapping the screen with your finger, you can navigate menus, dial phone numbers, write e-mail messages and likewise use the whole functionality of the popular gadget. The three-point-five-inch screen displays a keyboard for inputting text via multi-touch. Most consumers are seemingly skeptical about typing with the virtual keyboard, but Apple has predicted the common problems and has made sure the iPhone was constructed with features like automatic spell check and word prediction, not to mention an enhanced customizable dictionary. More so, the iPhone addresses the problems of typos commonly known to multi-touch usage by adding self-correction capabilities.

When scrolling, the usual wheel is not found at the side of the gadget. The multi-touch screen functionality allows its owner to scroll by dragging a finger in the desired direction. The speed of scrolling is designed to be proportional to the speed at which you drag your finger.

The multi-touch feature furthermore enables several more functions like multi-touch sensing for magnifying or reducing photos and even web pages. Using this feature, you can regulate object size simply by placing two fingers at the side of the object and then moving them, by dragging, either further apart or closer to one another. This feature does not distort images because images are initially scaled according to its original dimensions in the first place.

Hands down, the iPhone is more intelligent than any other phone today.

#2: Revolutionary Sensors

The gadget’s sensors have the ability to detect changes to the iPhone’s environment. The sensors are minuscule yet absurdly powerful. The three major sensors include an accelerometer, sensor for ambient light, and a proximity sensor.

The accelerometer sensor conveys the ability to detect any changes in the iPhones positioning. …The iPhone’s screen display will actually rotate to portrait or landscape, while still packing its contents into the 3.5-inch screen. Because it changes the view according to ratio, images are not distorted among web pages, videos, or photos.

The proximity sensors.

These high-tech features detect the location of the iPhone with regard to the skin. When you make a call and hold the iPhone up against your ear, the display will automatically set to standby. This is important in that it serves two basic functions.

One, by shutting off the display when not necessarily needed, this saves your battery’s life. More so, this avoids accidental touches to the screen, which would otherwise be sensitive. As soon as the cell is moved away from your face, the proximity sensors react in this way.

Ambient light sensor.

Through the AL sensor, changes in the phone’s environment are detected and instantaneously adjust the display’s brightness. Your iPhone’s display will always be well adjusted in regard to lighting.

#3: Mac OS X Operating System

The hype behind the Apple iPhone increased when Mac fans found out the Mac OS X would be included. The Mac OS X is the operating system inside the latest Apple computers. On the other hand, the electronic doesn’t have the complete functionality of the operating system. The entire OS X is too large to fit within the 4GB or 8GB internal memory. The iPhone contains a 500 MB version of the operating system.

There has been a ton of buzz lately about Apple’s iPhone and for good reason. The iPhone is an innovative take on the cellular phone handset and it incorporates a lot of really great features. Having said that, should you rush out to buy the 1st generation Apple iPhone or wait for future releases of the handset? In this article, I’m going to give you some food for thought that you should consider before making a decision one way or the other.

As with virtually any new technology-related product release, there will be iPhone bugs to deal with. The first generation Apple iPhone is already catching criticism for things such as earpiece volume, battery life, and battery replacement. If I know anything about Apple, I know that they listen to user feedback and you can bet the ranch that the biggest complaints voiced over their 1st generation version will be addressed in future iPhone models.

Another reason to wait is pricing. As you’ve already seen, Apple drastically lowered their iPhone pricing just months after the initial launch. To be honest, I expected to see a price drop, but not that soon and certainly not by that much. Anytime you purchase the newest technology riding on a wave of hype and excitement, you’re going to pay top dollar for it.

So the verdict? If you can control the urge to buy the latest and greatest toy from Apple for just a little while longer, you’ll most likely end up with a product that you’ll be more satisfied with, and at a price that won’t pull on the pursestrings quite as hard. Don’t get me wrong, I love the iPhone and think it’s a fantastic product worth buying, however, it would serve you best in my opinion to wait for the next release. No matter what you decide, enjoy it… it’s a great gadget!

When it comes to the matter of reading iphone reviews, it becomes important to establish the credibility of the individual who is writing the review. That is to say, if the reviewer is not qualified to write the review then the review may be without merit. While this may seem like an overly serious assessment of requirements needed to read a review, there needs to be a clear understanding present as to why the potential customer is reading the review in the first place. The primary reason people read a consumer review is to make the proper purchasing decision. Considering that there is a time and monetary commitment required for making the purchase of the iphone, the need to be forewarned and forearmed is vital to many people who are of limited time and resources. In short, they peruse the iphone reviews so as to make sure they are not making an inaccurate purchasing decision.

If the credibility of the review is in question, this will undermine the primary purpose and objective of reading the review in the first place. Of course, there are those who read consumer reviews for entertainment purposes only, but such trite casual reading is also deserved of accuracy in consumer review and reporting. Providing iphone reviews - or any reviews for that matter - should not be treated tritely by the reviewer and there should be a clear and definite attempt to provide a quality review. If not, the previously aforementioned undermining of the review’s purpose becomes present.

If there was a genre that movie critics disliked to review it would be the comedy genre. The reason for this is that no matter how much they may dislike a comedy they can not say it was not a funny film if the bulk of the audience is laughing. The purpose of a comedy is to make people laugh and if it does then it succeeds at its purpose.

Similarly, liking or disliking a particular iphone may provide entertaining reading as some iphone reviews may serve a purpose of being little more than a vehicle for humor, but whether a person likes or dislikes the phone is irrelevant unless the liking or disliking is expanded upon to include whether or not the phone delivers on its promised service. Ultimately, this is the most important aspect of the phone - does it work or not and does it provide a functional value in concert with its cost.

The iPhone is a truly revolutionary new phone, one that allows you to make and receive calls and perform various other tasks with a simple touch of a button. There are so many different and great iPhone features, and in order to take full advantage of this revolutionary device, you are going to want to understand as best about all these iPhone features as you possibly can.

Calls

Obviously the most common task that the iPhone is used for is making and receiving calls. The process involved in either case here is incredibly simple, and making a call is especially easy. All you have to do is tap an entry that you have listed in your contacts, favorites, or recent calls lists, and then this will begin the call to the particular contact that you have selected.

When it comes to answering calls you have a few more options, and when someone calls you, the phone will ring while simultaneously displaying the caller’s information. You can tap Answer, or if you have the phone locked you can drag the slider. If you are listening to music through a headset then you can just click the mic button to answer, and you will be connected to the call.

SMS

This is another of the most popular iPhone features, and SMS, or text messaging as it is more commonly referred to in the general public, is a really great feature on any device. The software design created here by Apple recognizes that most of us really get into text messaging with our friends and so they help you here by tracking your SMS exchanges in speech bubbles, so that you can easily scroll back and remind yourself of what was said previously in each conversation.

This is especially useful for those people who text message with a variety of different people at a time, so that they can keep track of each separate conversation and stay on top of what topics they were talking about.

Voicemail

Voicemail of course is another of the iPhone features, and the greatest thing about the voicemail feature on the iPhone is that it is visual. This means that you can pick and choose between the different voicemails that you want to listen to, delete, and so on, rather than having to go through them and decide this only by audio. This results in saving you a great deal of time and money in the end. http://www.the-iphone.biz

Google Earth for the iPhone

You guessed it. Google’s developers have been hard at work, because they just released Google Earth for the iPhone. That amazing program that we have all spent hours playing with, is just a touch away. This version of Google Earth is as ever bit impressive as the desktop application.

Pros

The multi-touch interface makes this program very easy to use and navigate around. It has all the same remarkable satellite and aerial imagery as the desktop version. Leave it to Google to integrate the browser into this app which allows you to directly link to Wikipedia related articles and photos from Panoramio. Plus you can seamlessly jump from the browser back to Google Earth. It also can adjust to the terrain.

Cons

A setback with the tilt function built into Google Earth, is if you hand it to someone it will tilt and move the focus which can get annoying. On a positive note, you can turn the auto-tilt feature off under the settings option. Each time you start the program it will zoom in to the last place you looked at, which wastes unnecessary time. The current version does not have the ability to show street names. It looses functionality points with us on this part.

Outcome

This is probably one of the better Apps we’ve seen in a while. It really shows of the processing power and graphic ability of the iPhone. Google Earth’s iPhone App, is a definite winner in our book.

Touchscreen mobile phones sell like hotcakes nowadays, thanks to the iPhone. Love it or hate it, it gave other manufacturers a kick up the backside to produce touchscreen mobile phones that could top it. And now, there are two new contenders: the Samsung Pixon and the phenomenal Blackberry Storm.

Samsung Pixon - the touchscreen mobile phone with 8 massive megapixels

What happens if you take a sleek touchscreen interface, and weld it into a mobile phone that has one of the best cameras known to man? You get the Samsung Pixon, a handset that may very possibly dominate the world of camera-equipped mobile phones this Christmas! The touchscreen interface no the Samsung Pixon is truly a joy to use, and easily measures up to more famous mobile phones (oh ok, the iPhone). But aside from the amazing usability is the long list of features in the Samsung Pixon. The 8 megapixel camera is obviously the star of the show here, as it’s more powerful than most other mobile phones on the market, and features things like face/smile/blink detection, and image stabiliser, to make the Samsung Pixon a properly powerful snapper. Other key features include GPS, fast HSDPA internet and tons of multimedia options.

Blackberry Storm - Causing a storm in the world of mobile phones

For a while, there were rumours of touchscreen Blackberry mobile phones being made. And the rumours came true. But, you see, this isn’t just any mobile phone. The fact is this: the new touchscreen Blackberry Storm is one of the single most innovative and best mobile phones ever made! Ok, it may have taken some design cues from the iPhone (although, in my opinion, the Blackberry Storm is better looking), but it builds on the iPhone experience by being the first device EVER in the world of mobile phones to have a movable, ‘clicky’ screen. In other words, when you press on the screen of the Blackberry Storm, it moves into the phone ever so slightly, and feels exactly like you’re pressing a physical key. That makes the Blackberry Storm’s onscreen keyboard the best I’ve ever, ever come across, and believe me on this: it’s absolutely brilliant to use! In terms of features, the Blackberry Storm gives you a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA internet, GPS (de rigueur for mobile phones these days) and fantastic media playback. Oh, and the amazing Blackberry email service, let’s not forget that… But it’s that screen that’s really going to wow you on the Blackberry Storm, over and over again!

Samsung Pixon vs Blackberry Storm - which should you ask Santa for this year?

So, when you get right down to it, which of these amazing touchscreen mobile phones should you go for? Should you go for the Samsung Pixon, or the Blackberry Storm? The key question you need to ask yourself is what you want it for. If you want an awesome camera, pretty much unequalled in the world of mobile phones, then the one for you is the Samsung Pixon. But for everything else, the Blackberry Storm is the winner. Especially with that screen, which is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen on any mobile phones ever. And I’ve seen a few, in my time! Put simply, whilst the Samsung Pixon may have the better camera, the Blackberry Storm absolutely canes it in every other way!

It’s now available to buy, so let’s take a look at the fabulous new Blackberry Storm, and ask the question: is it really the best email-centric mobile phone ever made?

Fruit-based fact-file - the history of Blackberry mobile phones

Blackberry mobile phones have been available for many years, now, and right from the very start of their of their existence, they’ve been known for one feature above all others: email. The name Blackberry has become synonymous for instant email, wherever you are, right from the early days of their little, monochrome-screened devices that weren’t actually very good as mobile phones, and weren’t actually that appealing. However, since then, it’s fair to say that Blackberrys have taken off in a big, big way. It’s also fair to say they’ve evolved from pure email devices into proper, full-blooded smartphones. Their portfolio’s now filled with top-end mobile phones like the Blackberry Bold, the Blackberry Pearl…

…and the phone we’re here to look at today: the most advanced Blackberry ever made, the stunning Blackberry Storm.

Blackberry Storm - a touch of genius

There’s one glaringly obvious thing about the Blackberry Storm, and that’s the complete lack of a physical keyboard. That should give the game away, that the Blackberry Storm has a touchscreen; in fact, it’s the first of the wealth of mobile phones to come from Blackberry to ever have a touchscreen. Ah, but, it doesn’t just stop at the touchscreen, because it’s a special one. You see, the Blackberry Storm has a screen that can be pressed down into the body of the mobile phone, with a satisfying clicky action. In essence, it’s designed to feel like you’re pressing a real, physical button, and believe me, when you’re typing out an email using the virtual keyboard on the Blackberry Storm, that kind of physical motion and click is absolutely invaluable. No other touchscreen mobile phones can touch (pun ever so slightly intended) the Blackberry Storm, when it comes to tactile feedback.

The Perfect Storm?

The question, though, is whether the Blackberry Storm is the perfect email device, and whether it can be the perfect smartphone. It certainly has a massive list of features, beginning with the touchscreen, and taking in such varied things as a 3 megapixel camera, and superb video playback, meaning you have your very own pocket entertainment system, with the Blackberry Storm. And, of course, with HSDPA internet access and WiFi, as well as a massive screen, the Blackberry Storm (or Blackberry Storm 9500, to give it its full name) really is one of the better internet mobile phones out there. So for email and internet access, as well as for entertainment, it really is brilliant. But… there are a couple of flaws, and things to consider. First, the software interface on the Blackberry Storm has some, well, let’s call them idiosyncrasies, and it can be a bit finicky at times. Also, your may find it disconcerting have a screen that moves. It’s a brilliant, brilliant feature, and it will benefit you no end, but the first time you feel it moving and wiggling, the screen on the Blackberry Storm IS going to freak you out. If you can get past its relatively minor flaws, though, you’ll that the Blackberry Storm is one heck of a good mobile phones, and one that I really can’t recommend enough!

The most anticipated mobile phone release from RIM Blackberry has finally come to fruition, the latest Blackberry Storm has now been officially launched as a network exclusive by Vodafone in the UK.

After months of speculation, revised release dates and general blog and forum post rumours this high specification device can now be connected to the full range of Vodafone pay monthly tariffs, but is a network exclusive launch good for the consumer?

Basically, the exclusive deal signed between the manufacturer and the network dictates that the Blackberry Storm can only be sold by the network on one of their many contract packages, the handset will not be available on any other UK network operators so there is no way of comparing prices or for that matter any competition - the Blackberry Storm has been developed solely for Vodafone.

This has obvious implications for consumers as there is no way of knowing whether the networks deals are of value, basically the network can set their own prices as the handset can not be purchased anywhere else, the Storm will be available from select retailers but again Vodafone have the say on pricing so as not to sell themselves short.

This may not be the end of it though and there may be some good news on the horizon, in the past network exclusive mobile phones have popped up as SIM free handsets from independent retailers, if these retailers can secure stocks of the Blackberry Storm there is a chance that they will offer the handset with no network subsidy or contract ties - this will initially work out far more expensive than buying the phone on contract however there are no extra ongoing line rental charges and the user can insert their existing SIM card to retain their current mobile number, account details and any saved contacts.

The Blackberry Storm could be a real candidate for the iPhone killer, in reaction to the release of the iPhone the standard of touchscreen mobile phones has reached new heights recently with the release of the Samsung Omnia, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and the LG Renoir and the Blackberry Storm is no exception.

Incorporating an amazing animated touchscreen similar to that of the HTC Touch Diamond, the Blackberry Storm is one of this years big product launches and has already created a buzz in an extremely competitive market, laying testament to the impact this handset is set to make. The Storm also offers a 3.2 megapixel camera, WiFi technology, built in GPS, Blackberry maps, HSDPA and Blackberry operating system.

This is not the first time RIM have made a BlackBerry which seems to appeal to everyone, but it is perhaps the first time they have packaged one inside such a stylish handset! Style is everything in consumer world and phones don’t come much better looking than when they are almost devoid of ugly buttons. It’s not just a pretty face either, as the Storm does everything the casual user demands.

This is both a business tool as well as a pleasure gadget, integrated access to emails for on the move professinals runs alongside an enhanced music player, WiFi connectivity for using theinternet on the go coupled with a high specification camera lens with video support for viewing You Tuibe videos.

For social networking addicts there is the ability to update and connect with friends during the day for those that do not always have access to a computer. Direct access to accounts means it’s easy to change status or add a blog post all from the mobile phone, wherever and whenever.

In conclusion the Blackberry Storm represents the best in technology, design and features that RIM has to offer, as its flagship device the Storm will attract custom from a wide range of consumers including teens looking fro a new cool phone through to businessmen and women seeking that all inclusive communications device.

With just over a year after Apple birthed the first iphone, the long-awaited, next-generation iPhone 3G has arrived bearing a mildly tweaked design and a load of new features. With access to a faster 3G wireless network, Microsoft Exchange server e-mail, and support for a staggering array of third-party software from the iPhone App Store, the new handset is the iPhone we’ve been waiting for. It still lacks some basic features but when compared with what the original model was year ago, this device sets a new benchmark for the cell phone world.

The 3G technology gives iPhone fast access to the Internet and email over cellular networks around the world. iPhone 3G also makes it possible to do more in more places: Surf the web, download email, get directions, and watch video even while you are on a call. With fast 3G wireless technology, GPS mapping, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, and the new App Store, iPhone 3G puts even more features at your fingertips. Plus we all know that iPhone combines three products in one - a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser.

The 3G iPhone Home Screen has instant access to whatever you need. The Home screen takes you to iPhone applications and Web Clips with a single tap - even when you are on a call. And no two Home screens are alike. That is because you can customize yours with whatever applications and Web Clips you choose. Plus, you can customize you Home Screen, Add Web Clips and no matter where you are on iPhone, one click of the Home button takes you to the Home screen. And you can go back to what you were doing at any time.

Phone Calls - with 3G iPhone, making a call is as simple as tapping a name or number. All your contacts appear in a list you scroll through with a flick of your finger. And Visual Voicemail plays your messages in any order you want, just like email.

Email - on 3G iPhone looks and works just like email on your computer. With support for popular email servers and providers - including MobileMe, Microsoft Exchange, Yahoo! Mail, Google Gmail, and AOL - and most industry-standard IMAP or POP mail systems, iPhone puts email in your pocket.

Internet - 3G iPhone features Safari - the most advanced web browser ever on a portable device. And with 3G and Wi-Fi, you can browse the real Internet really fast. iPhone also syncs your bookmarks from your PC or Mac and has Google and Yahoo! search built in.

iPod - With its beautiful 3.5-inch widescreen display and Multi-Touch controls, iPhone is also one amazing iPod. Browse your music in Cover Flow and watch widescreen video with the touch of a finger.

SMS - With a chat-style view and an intelligent Multi-Touch keyboard that predicts and suggests words as you type, iPhone texts smarter than any smartphone.

Maps with GPS - Find your location, get directions, and see traffic all from your phone. Maps on iPhone 3G combines GPS, Wi-Fi, and cell tower location technology with the Multi-Touch interface to create the best mobile map application ever.

iTunes on 3G iPhone - Buy music over the air from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPhone. Find a Wi-Fi hot spot and tap the iTunes button. Then take your pick from more than 6 million songs.

App Store - The App Store is coming soon. And when it is here, you will find applications in every category, from games to business, education to entertainment, finance to health and fitness, productivity to social networking. These applications have been designed to take advantage of iPhone technologies such as Multi-Touch, the accelerometer, wireless, and GPS. And some are even free. You will download them wirelessly and be able to use them right away.

Calender - iPhone makes it easy to make plans. The built-in Calendar goes with you anywhere, works with a tap, and syncs seamlessly to the calendar on your computer.

YouTube - iPhone keeps you entertained with a YouTube application that opens right from the Home screen, so you can watch YouTube wherever you are. Videos load fast over 3G or Wi-Fi. Find a video you like? Bookmark it or share it with a friend.

Camera - With a built-in camera and an advanced photo application, iPhone is the most photo-friendly phone ever. It takes snapshots, automatically syncs photos with your PC or Mac, displays albums with the flick of a finger, and posts pictures directly to a MobileMe Gallery.

Stocks, Weather and Notes - Get stock quotes and weather reports with a tap. Use Notes to jot down information you want to keep with you, remember for later, or share via email.

And last but not the least a calculator on 3G iPhone combines the simplicity of a pocket calculator with the power of a full-featured scientific calculator.

Overall, though, a lot is improved and a price cut that significant really is incredible.
